bugwara - throne design + sky plate

Finally got round to designing Bugs throne. Also resolved sky plate and overall colour choices. + got a bit carried away and ended up painting away in Photoshop, which obviously flies in the face of the final vector animation. Am aware that Toon Boom Studio 4 allows for bitmap drawing shapes, so may eventually replace certain body parts with more textured bitmaps. Need to do some quality tests when I eventually upgrade to V4.
Final animation composite to follow shortly. Whip needs to be done-> either using strokes in After Effects and vectorized, or frame by frame in Flash or TBS. Time consuming operation either way...

Bugwara Animation Test 1

So this is the initial in Toon Boom Studio. Still needs much refining...especially in the whip, the background sky plate needs to be added...etc. Enjoying going a bit Mike Mignola with the lighting and dropping everything below the torso into shadow... also saves on walk cycles :)

Tit and the Traitor - Bugwara

First draft sketch of Bugwara, who represents the main bad guy in TatT. Of course the bad guys are actually the good guys, if you know what I mean. Initial animation test to follow.

First animation test using Dunbar character sketch, polished and rigged in Toon Boom Studio.
Something is starting to emerge. Next step will be layering a couple more henchmen in foreground, surging forward and some sound and VO. He is barking "No Quarter Lads" in a suitably Flashman-esque voice.

Tit and the Traitor - Lord Dunbar

Work in progress sketch of a character for an intended Flash film/series entitled "Tit and the Traitor"... Love the way his head has worked out... now just have to solve the ol' 3D head rotation... the horror of 2D :)

Welcome is in order

Until such time as I get a personal all the bells and whistles web site up and running, herewith...a blog. In all the years of designing and building web sites and online promos for clients, I've never got round to producing something for the most important client of them all... This blog is intended as a place to correlate illustration and animation work in progress, and hopefully, with time, become a place whether others may get some pleasure from the work as well as give constructive feedback. There might be a fair bit of waffling too....
